35mm Slides, c.1990
Scope and Contents
This series consists primarly of ephemera and correspondence documenting Lyons' career as an artist. Press clippings are collected from various local and national periodicals including The New Republic, ArtSpeak and flyfishing magazines. Primarily showing her work at the First Street Gallery in New York City, the majority of the invitations, programs and other exhibition ephemera correspond to these shows. The correspondence sub-series primarily consists of the artist and her husband's efforts to have her work shown at various galleries and museums. Personal correspondence occupies a much smaller portion of this sub-series. Additionally, the writings sub-series contains drafts of talks Lyons gave about her artistic practice. Finally, a brief literary portrait of Lyons written by her college roommate, Carolee Schneeman, is contained here.
